Flattened BOM
Learn about this unique OpenBOM feature that gives you a comprehensive overview of your bill of materials (BOMs).
The flattened bill of materials (BOM) feature is a flat rollup report from the assembly selected down. It allows you to view your bill of materials in a simplified, single-level format.
What’s special about this feature?
- Provides a clear, linear representation of all parts and assemblies involved with quantity rollup calculating the occurrence of all components across multiple assemblies
- Allows users to quickly summarize the number of components in complex assemblies when working in procurement
- Enables users to summarize multiple CAD assemblies that don’t have a common assembly but are used in the same project and have common parts
- Offers an easy way to review and edit common attributes for items (e.g. description, cost, material, etc.)
How do I generate a flattened BOM?
1. From the OpenBOM dashboard, click on “My BOMs” in the left side panel.
2. Select the BOM you’d like to flatten by clicking on it.
3. Click on “BOM Single Level” in the top-left corner.
4. Select “Flattened” from the drop-down menu.
