openBoM acquires information from different CAD systems, creating a BOM that can be completely customized by users. Moreover, the BOM can be collaboratively edited and accessed by multiple people situated in different locations around the world. You may be tempted to quip, “hey Google Spreadsheet can do that.” Well yes, but here’s the thing, openBoM offers a collaborative change process which allows people to make changes as well in applications such as CAD, PDM, PLM, and ERPs simultaneously, all organized together into a distributed collaborative BOM process. Here’s how you can create a shareable and interactive BOM:
- Create a new BOM or import a BOM excel. If you’re new to openBoM, you can learn how to create a new BOM, here. Learn how to import an Excel into openBoM, here.
